Here are answers to some frequently asked questions…
Yes, you are perfectly correct.
The BIM Brief is a document which you need to prepare. ArchitecSure are happy to assist you when preparing this document. This is a service we provide through our marketing team.
When ArchitecSure have been appointed to the project, we will produce the BIM Execution Plan in collaboration with the rest of the project team.
The aim of the BIM Brief is to maximise benefit to the Owner and the project team. Before proceeding further it will be necessary to collect a BIM Evaluation and Response Document from Consultants who are interested to participate in the project. Based on the information collected from this tender you can decide who are to be appointed and you are not under any obligation to include ArchitecSure with that team. Naturally we are confident that after you have experienced our expertise and enthusiasm you will want us around for the rest of the project.
In recent decades modern buildings have become more and more complex, including a wide range of services and specialised equipment. All of this needs to be recorded and planned in order to avoid costly delays and problems during construction. With this in mind various BIM applications have been developed to store data in a model which replicates the construction of the building, thus making it easier to identify and interpret information. Simply put, the cost drivers on buildings’ are the ‘things’ that go into them and BIM simply brings order into the management of those ‘things’.
We recommend a BIM Execution Plan for all projects. This plan may be a brief document of only a few pages, or, a more substantial document. To know what your plan requires it is important to prepare a Project BIM Brief, defining what BIM Uses are required and their objectives. These requirements are than incorporated into the project’s contractual documentation, creating ‘an equal playing field’ for all who tender for the BIM work and the consultation team.
